About Me
Hi, I’m Colin Fee
About me: After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with my BSW in 2002, I worked in juvenile corrections in a residential setting and a charter school, helping young offenders from Texas Youth Commision and other residential settings re-engage in high school and GED programs post-discharge. I moved from Austin to Wichita, KS in 2008, where I worked at a foster care agency; my caseload focused exclusively on medical and behavioral high-risk children, working toward either finding adoptive placements or reintegrating the children into parental homes. After finishing my Masters of Social Work at Wichita State University in 2013, I worked as a therapist in office and school settings for several years before going into private practice.
As a therapist, I have focused my practice on working with trans and queer children and adults; hell-raising teenagers; families dealing with the foster care system; and garden variety anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. I have worked collaboratively with the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN); Wichita Area Sexual Assault Center, where I facilitated/cofacilitated survivor groups; the East High Gay-Straight Alliance, where I served as faculty advisor for several years; the Sedgwick County LGBT Health Coalition; Wichita Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG), on which I served as Treasurer; Wichita State University, providing presentations to grad students with best practices regarding working with the LGBT population in a clinical setting; and other organizations. Advocacy and activism are at the core of my social work practice.
Aside from social work, I enjoy lifting weights and training, teaching, and competing in jiu jitsu, as well as helping coach my teammates in amateur MMA bouts. I also help with children’s and women’s self defense classes at my gym in Wichita.
